Items Needed For Petrolia Time Capsule

This year the town of Petrolia celebrated the 150th anniversary of its incorporation, the striking of the King Well and the opening of the Petrolia Spur Line.

Town council has been working on a time capsule to commemorate 2016 and wants clubs, organizations and schools to submit items as well.

Director of Marketing and Communications Laurissa Ellsworth says the items must be able to fit in a single, letter-sized manilla envelope.

"What we've been asking for mainly is stuff about roster, who's in the club, what their organizations are doing, photographs, things they've done in 2016," says Ellsworth.

Submissions must be in to Town Hall by December 20. No USB drives, or CD/DVD formats will be accepted.

"Our concern is that when they open this up in 50 years, they'll wonder what it is. If we accepted everything, we would have a time capsule that would be so large, we couldn't inter it anyplace."

The plan is to entomb the capsule in the town with a plaque with it to be open in 50 years.
