OPP Make Arrest After Seven-Hour Standoff

Police have made an arrest after a man barricaded himself inside of a home in St. Clair Township.

The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police say on Monday around 8pm, officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on McCallum Line, just west of Mandaumin Rd.

Officers attempted to communicate with the man inside the home, but he refused to cooperate. Officers then called in the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit to assist.

A male suspect was eventually arrested without incident just before 4:30am on Tuesday.

No one was injured during the standoff, but McCallum Line between Mandaumin Rd. and Brigden Rd. was closed for around seven hours while officers were at the scene.

Police say an investigation is ongoing and the name of the accused is being withheld pending the outcome.
