Police Arrest Suspect In Purse Theft

Sarnia police have arrested a man, and are looking for another, after a woman's purse was stolen out of her cart in the Northgate Plaza.

Around 2:30pm Wednesday afternoon, police say the 69-year-old woman was heading to her vehicle when two men on bikes grabbed her purse and fled northbound towards Colborne Rd.

An officer found a 20-year-old suspect in the area of Rosedale Ave. and Ellwood Ave. He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, a 6 inch fillet knife, and two counts of breach of probation.

He is being held pending a bail heading.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the second suspect is asked to call Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
