Irish Miracle Surpasses Goal

St. Pat's High School's 33rd annual Irish Miracle is being termed a huge success.

Students and staff canvassed Sarnia on Saturday and were able to collect 8,000 bags of food, 300 boxes of food, and $1,000 in cash.

The donations go toward St. Vincent de Paul's Christmas hampers for the needy.

School Chaplin Joseph Palko says they were above their goal of 7,500 bags of food.

"This year for the first time we had our own school as a drop off and when people come through from the community and actually see how much food we collect, they make a lot of statements about how they've heard about Irish Miracle but to see it is just a whole other level of wow," says Palko.

Palko says they'll be back out in April to collect donations for Cyclone Aid.
