Greyhounds Maul Sting 8-1

Jordan Kyrou mustered up the only goal for the Sarnia Sting in their 8-1 loss to the Greyhounds in Sault Ste. Marie Sunday afternoon.

It was the final contest for the Sting before the OHL's holiday break.  With that, the Sting remain in third place in the West Division with 38 points.  The Greyhounds are in first with 50 points, three ahead of the Windsor Spitfires.

Colton White began the scoring for the Hounds just after 15 minutes into the first period.  Boris Katochuk would score the first of his two goals within the first minute of the second period, followed over a minute and a half later by a score from Jake Kopacka to make the score 3-0 Sault Ste. Marie.  Katochuk, who would end up with four points total on the afternoon, scored his second goal at 5:10 shorthanded.  Kyrou's goal came 18 seconds later to put Sarnia on the board with Brady Hinz on the assist.  The Hounds would put the game out of reach with three more goals in the second period alone, from Liam Hawel, Bobby MacIntyre and Tim Gettinger.

Justin Fazio, who picked up a shutout Saturday night in his 100th career game, was rocked in goal Sunday.  He was pulled in the second period for Aidan Hughes, who would allow one more goal in the third period, from Zachary Senyshyn.

The Greyhounds outshot the Sting 45-30.  Sarnia will hit the road after Christmas break, visiting the Guelph Storm on December 28.  The Greyhounds will visit the Flint Firebirds that same night.
