Suspect Arrested After Second Break-In Attempt At Same Home

Sarnia police say a man who allegedly returned to a Margaret St. home for a second time, to try to break-in, has been arrested.

Police had been called to the residence just before midnight Sunday after a neighbour reported footsteps in the snow in the backyard leading to a back door.

A responding officer noted that it appeared someone had pried at the door, but was unable to get in. It was believed the homeowner was out of town.

At about 3am on Monday, police were told a suspect was trying to break into the same home through a window. A fleeing suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

A 37-year-old Sarnia man was being held pending a bail hearing on charges of break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, mischief over $5,000, trespass by night and breach of probation.
