Charges Laid In Parkway Stabbing

Sarnia police say charges have now been laid in a stabbing early Wednesday morning that sent three people to hospital.

Officers responded to the 1700-block of St. Clair Parkway around 3:30am and found a 53-year-old woman and a 16-year-old female had been stabbed. Police say a 22-year-old male suspect appeared to have stabbed himself.

The man, remanded into custody and under guard in hospital, is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence.

Police say all three people are known to each other and were taken to hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The two females were released from hospital Friday.

To protect the identities of the victims, police say the name of the accused will not be released.
