Charges Laid In Dec 5 Standoff

Lambton OPP are now reporting on charges laid in connection with a seven hour standoff with a barricaded man back on December 5 in St. Clair Township.

Police responded to a reported domestic dispute after 8pm at a residence in the 2800 block of McCallum Rd.

The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit were dispatched and a male suspect was eventually apprehended without incident.

Police now say a 49-year-old St. Clair Township man faces charges including overcoming resistance by attempting to choke or strangle another person, assault with a weapon, mischief, and assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later released on his own recognizance.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
