Sting Fall To Storm In Overtime

The Sarnia Sting (17-13-5-0) opened the second half of the OHL season on a losing note, falling 4-3 in overtime to the Guelph Storm (13-18-2-1) at the Sleeman Centre Wednesday.

The Sting jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Ryan McGregor and Jeff King. Guelph stormed back with three goals in the second frame to pull ahead 3-2, but Jaden Lindo tied the game five minutes into the third period to force overtime.

Sarnia took a pair of minor penalties in the extra session, and Matthew Hotchkiss scored on the five on three powerplay for his second of the contest to win the game for the Storm.

Sting goalie Aidan Hughes stopped 39 of 43 shots while Anthony Popovich made 28 saves on 31 shots in the Guelph net.

Sarnia sits 3rd in the West Division with 39 points, 11 back of the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds.

They're back in action Friday night in London before hosting the Knights at 2pm Sunday afternoon at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
