Land Designation Changes Possible In Plympton-Wyoming

There could be a dramatic change in the make-up of the landscape north of Lakeshore Rd. in Plympton-Wyoming.

CAO Carolyn Tripp says the municipality is considering changing the designation of 755 hectares from agriculture to residential in the official plan to allow for housing development.

"It's certainly an area where development has been progressing to date," says Tripp. "That's where the majority of residential development has been happening in Plympton-Wyoming, as well as in Wyoming itself."

The land is located north of Lakeshore Rd. to Lake Huron, bounded by Mandaumin Rd. to the west and Townsend Line to the east.

Tripp says they have been working with Lambton County to ensure the change falls into line with the county's new official plan, which is also under review.

A public meeting on the proposed official plan amendment will be held January 24 at 7pm, at the Camlachie Community Centre.
