Significant Hydro Damage In Fibrex Demolition Incident

Approximately $50,000 is damages are being reported from Saturday's incident at the former Fibrex Insulation plant on Scott Rd.

Debris from a smokestack being demolished at the site fell onto and damaged electrical lines in the area.

Bluewater Power CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says damage was significant.

She says two poles, a transformer and 300 ft of electrical wire were damaged in the incident around 11:10am

"Customers would have had a fairly significant power outage on Saturday and Sunday, a small group, and then many customers in that area would have experienced a momentary blip when that piece of equipment inadvertently made contact with the live electrical lines," says McMichael-Dennis.

"We will absolutely, in circumstances like this, bill the party responsible for the damages."

McMichael-Dennis says about 30 customers were without power intermittently until mid afternoon Sunday, while repairs were made.
