Legionnaires Edge Preds In Battle Of Lambton

The Sarnia Legionnaires (19-17-0-2) won the latest edition of the battle of Lambton County with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Lambton Shores Predators (7-28-0-3) in GOJHL play Thursday night.

The game was tied 1-1 after the opening period on goals from Sarnia's Cameron Rannie and Brett Fisher of the Preds. Alec DeKoning scored to put the Legionnaires ahead 2-1 just 6:59 into the second frame.

Derrick Johnson and Yianni Skropolis scored just 1:35 apart to open up a 4-1 lead for Sarnia, but Preds rookie Wes Dobbin cut the lead to 4-2 just 56 seconds later. Kyle Fisher's third period goal made it 4-3 Sarnia but that's as close as the Preds would come.

Lambton Shores goalie Tynan Lauziere made 39 saves on 43 shots, while the Legionnaires' Travis Moore stopped 22 of 25 shots against.

The Legionnaires sit 5th in the Western Conference with 40 points while the Preds are 9th with 17 points.

Both teams return to action Sunday night. The Legionnaires travel to Chatham while the Preds host the St. Marys Lincolns.
