Lambton College kicked off preparations for its annual Empty Bowls event to end hunger on Friday morning.
The Celebrity Bowl-a-Thon was held at 10am in the ceramics studio where local celebrities tried their hand at bowl making.
Ceramics Professor Beth Turnbull Morrish says it's always a fun day.
"People joke around, and you actually get to see how this is a real skill and trade and talent," says Turnbull Morrish. "You get to see how the students at the college get the opportunity to try different things other than C-PET or nursing. There will be students on hand as well to get them involved with the community and such."
This year's Empty Bowls dinner is being held March 31 at 5pm and 7pm at the Lambton College Events Centre. The menu includes soup scooped into the homemade pottery bowls.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Inn of the Good Shepherd or the college.
Over its nine year existence, the event has raised over $75,000 for the Inn of the Good Shepherd and the college's campus food bank.
