Ambulances Donated To Third World Countries

The County of Lambton will donate a couple of old ambulances to third world countries.

Lambton County Council endorsed the requested donation of surplus land ambulances from two separate organizations Wednesday.

Lambton EMS Deputy Manager Jeff Brooks says they will be given to Support of Lambton for Latin America (SOL for LA) and Operation Nicaragua.

"Surplus ambulances are primarily sent to auction in Toronto, where they can be sold between $7,000 and $12,000," says Brooks.

He says the county first donated an ambulance to SOL for LA in 2014.

It was successfully transported to the City of Chalatenango, in El Salvador, and has been described as a blessing for the community.
