Tender Awarded For Point Edward Splash Pad

The tender for Point Edward's waterfront splash pad has been awarded to All Season Excavating.

Village CAO Jim Burns say the Watford company will begin work on the $507,000 project once the ground thaws.

"The planning work is all done," he says. "There's still some fine-tuning of different attachments and different spray units for the pad yet to be done, but the basic layout has been decided."

Tenders have been let for a field house that will contain washrooms and mechanical equipment, as well as a pavilion.

"The splash pad is going where the existing ball diamond is," he says. "The pavilion will go between the existing pergola and the splash pad and the field house will go just north of the splash pad."

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for June 29.
