Man Faces Counterfeit Money Charges

A 45-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested after allegedly trying to convert counterfeit American money into Canadian dollars at a local bank.

Sarnia police say on February 2 the man entered the bank and allegedly presented the teller with fake $20, $50, and $100 bills.

The man is charged with possession of counterfeit money and attempting to utter forged documents. He was released on a promise to appear.

The Sarnia Police Service is urging the public to inspect American bills and take the time to ensure they are authentic. Police say various websites will give you suggestions of what to look for such as raised print, texture of the paper and print errors.
