Warmest February 18 In Nearly 70 Years

Saturday was the warmest February 18 in Sarnia in nearly 70 years.

The mercury hit 14 C (57 F) at 12pm at Chris Hadfield Airport, surpassing the previous record high of 13.3 C, set in 1949.

It peaked at 4pm at 18.9 C (66 F), smashing the old mark by nearly six degrees.

The temperature is forecast to dip back into single digits Sunday and Family Day Monday but still remain several degrees above the February norm of 1 C.

Environment Canada says an unseasonably mild air mass, more typical of April, will dominate our weather through most of next week.

The spring-like conditions will continue with forecast highs back in the double digits through Thursday.
