UPDATE: ARLANXEO Pipe Rack Damaged By Railcar

Details emerged Wednesday about an incident in Sarnia Friday night that saw a railcar derail and damage a pipe rack at the ARLANXEO site.

North American Corporate Communications Manager Caitlin Leopold issued a statement saying the pipe rack "sustained some damage and is currently being repaired." She says the railcar was empty, there were no injuries or releases to the environment and no impact to the community.

Leopold says the incident, which occurred at about 7pm February 17, is being investigated further by ARLANXEO and the rail company involved.

CN Rail referred to the matter in the area of St. Andrew St. and Scott Rd. as being minor, saying one of the wheels of an empty liquid petroleum railcar left the track, but the car stayed upright and was put back on track without incident.

A spokesperson said there was no leak or damage reported and no impact to the public.

Leopold says operations at the ARLANXEO site in Sarnia are continuing as normal.
