Squirrel Causes Brief Power Outage

Bluewater Power says an unfortunate squirrel caused a brief but widespread outage just before noon today affecting about 10,000 customers.

CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says customers in north Sarnia, Point Edward and Bright's Grove were affected.

She says the fault occurred at the Hydro One station that feeds the city.

Power was restored within about 15 minutes.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
