Traffic Flow Improvements Planned At Blue Water Bridge

The Federal Bridge Corporation is about to embark on the next phase of the Blue Water Bridge Master Plan.

Spokesperson Andre Girard says they'll be improving traffic flow for trucks by constructing an emergency return road.

It will connect the commercial compound on the south side of the bridge to the plaza and the bridge approach on the north side. The goal is to make it safer for trucks to enter the compound.

Girard says the former commercial building, which was replaced in 2009 by the Blue Water Bridge Corporate Centre, will be torn down.

It'll likely be a few months before project moves ahead.

They'll be doing excavation, archaeological surveys, and preparing specs before the work goes to tender.
