Construction Of Electric Vehicle Charging Station Complete

Construction of an electric vehicle charging station in Sarnia's Charlotte St. parking lot is now complete and city staff are in the final stages of commissioning the unit.

A pilot rate structure will be based on a session fee, a power consumption rate and an idle fee, which is to discourage owners from monopolizing the unit once their vehicle is fully charged.

The city says a four-hour charge will amount to $5.10 while the idle fee will be about $2 an hour.

The city will receive quarterly reports and adjust fees to reflect market pricing.

The charging station is expected to open in the next few weeks once testing is complete.
