Signs started popping up on rural properties over the weekend urging Lambton County Council to scrap the draft official plan.
The document outlines county policy for land use as well as environmental, social and economic matters.
Concerned Landowners legal defence spokesperson Elizabeth Davis-Dagg says over 600 people have signed a legal letter identifying specific sections of the document they believe need to be changed before being passed.
"Of the 39 points in the legal letter, really only three and a part were addressed by the official plan committee," says Davis-Dagg.
The sub-committee, comprised of county councillors and staff from the county's planning and development services department, continues to review the draft.
"Some of the most important things that were not addressed in the recommendations from the official plan committee, were first of all; informing land owners whose land designation had changed, that there would be additional environmental obligations that they'd have to fulfill if they were going to do any type of development on their land," says Davis-Dagg.
She says there are also examples where wetlands, designated on the natural heritage maps, are actually productive farmland.
