Marine Rescue Volunteers Needed

PointSAR Marine Rescue is recruiting sea and shore-based volunteers for the upcoming boating season.

Successful applicants will be on call from May 15 until November 1 and will undergo a minimum of eight hours of training per month.

Media Relations Officer Jason Horan says they're looking for people with some boating experience and CPR training.

"We operate pretty much the same way as a volunteer fire department," he says. "Our members are on call on an automated calling system when a mayday or call for assistance comes in. The boat is an auxiliary boat. The orange Zodiac out of Bridgeview is manned by volunteers."

Horan says they're looking to hire four or five people for the auxiliary boat.

Those interested can submit a resume to [email protected].
