Sarnia-Lambton's MP has been recognized by the Engineers Canada Board.
Marilyn Gladu, the first female engineer in Canada to be elected as a member of parliament, has been named as a "Fellow of Engineers Canada."
A special ceremony was held at Parliament Hill in Ottawa Thursday.
Gladu called it a "terrific honour."
“I have worked very hard over my career to ensure that I did my job to the highest degree possible, and also left a legacy of success on the projects here in Sarnia and abroad," said Gladu. "It wasn’t always easy, but I have many fond memories from my engineering career, and I would also share that the lessons I learned over my career are able to be applied to my new found political work."
Before she was elected, Gladu held leading roles with Dow Chemical, Suncor and Worley Parsons.
She currently serves as the Science Critic in the Official Opposition.
