The man who supported the founding of Sarnia's new YMCA in 1996, has died.
Jerry McCaw died peacefully March 5, 2017 at the age of 90.
Mr. McCaw became an entrepreneur at the age of 20 when he founded Custom Floors. He went on to expand his business career to include Sarnia Beverages, David Pearson Equipment Rentals and St. Clair Community Estates, as well as property developments and real estate holdings.
His $1-million donation allowed the city to proceed with plans for a new YMCA, the Jerry McCaw Family Centre on Finch Dr.
A private family funeral was held, but a celebration of Jerry's life will be held at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club Thursday, June 22, 2017.
Donations can be made to the Jerry McCaw centre or the Temmy Latner Palliative Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto.
