Sarnia Fire and Rescue is purchasing an inflatable fire safety house, thanks in part to a $1,000 donation from Union Gas.
Fire Safety Educator Mike Otis says the $10,000 house will be used to educate kids on how to be safe in everyday life.
He says messages include cooking safety, testing smoke alarms, and escape plans.
It replaces their old safety house trailer that's been used for several years.
"It's more interactive so it'll be more memorable for the kids," says Otis. "They'll hopefully learn even better from it. When they escape out the window, there's an inflatable pad so we know they'll be safe and have fun doing it."
Otis says the safety house can be used both indoors and outdoors and folds up for easy storage.
It will be used around the community in schools and other safety initiatives.
