UPDATE: Gusty Winds Disrupt Power To Thousands

Around 300 Hydro One customers across Lambton County are still without power following gusty winds Thursday evening and overnight.

Wind gusts up to 80 km/h toppled tree limbs onto lines or snapped them altogether.

Hydro One says at its peak, over 53,000 customers in southern and central Ontario were affected by outages.

According to its website, the utility expected to have power fully restored to Lambton area customers by 11:30pm Saturday.

Blackwell Rd. was closed early Friday morning between Modeland Rd. and Blackwell Sideroad to remove a tree that came down in gusty winds.

The special weather statement for Sarnia-Lambton has ended as winds are expected to diminish this afternoon.

The Lambton Kent District School Board was forced to close three schools, South Plympton Central School, Errol Village Public School and Bosanquet Central Public School due to power outages Friday.
