Former Justice Of The Peace Dies

A long time Justice of the Peace who married thousands of couples in this area over 25 years has died.

Jack Western was 93.

Mr. Western was an airman in the British Air Force before moving to Canada in 1953. He eventually became Chief of Police in St Marys, an OPP radio operator and then, after moving to Sarnia, became Clerk of the County of Lambton Family Court and a J.P.

He was the founder of the Bomber Command Association of Canada, and Director of the Sarnia Disaster Relief Organization for six years.

A memorial service for Jack Western will be held May 27 at Smith Funeral Home.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
