SMAA Looking For Used Baseball Gear

The Sarnia Minor Athletic Association is looking for equipment donations ahead of the 2017 baseball season.

Residents can drop off new or gently used shoes and gloves at Blackburn Radio at 1415 London Rd.

Coach Martin Vrolyk says the community has a chance to help a kid play who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it.

"We see kids playing with gloves that are too small, for example, because they buy that one glove and you don't want to spend money on another one just a couple years down the road," says Vrolyk. "There's the same struggle with shoes. We absolutely won't turn away somebody that shows up in regular running shoes, but you get so much better traction and it's just a much better playing experience if you have the proper footwear."

The donations can be picked up on May 6 from 9am until 11am at the Chader House at Germain Park.
