Petrolia Man Charged With Impaired Driving

A Petrolia man is facing charges after a traffic stop in Goderich Wednesday afternoon.

The OPP say an officer observed a Chevrolet pickup truck following closely behind his patrol car. The truck continued to follow close behind, and then aggressively passed the officer.

After being stopped, police say there was a smell of alcohol on the driver's breath. He provided two breath samples which allegedly both registered over the legal limit.

As a result, a 36-year-old Petrolia man is charged with impaired driving and following too closely. His licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

He's scheduled to appear in Goderich court May 29.
