Woman Charged In Elder Abuse Investigation

A Warwick Township woman has been charged after an elderly woman was found in a residence, incoherent and in need of medical intervention.

Lambton OPP say the elderly woman was found Thursday when officers went to a residence in the 6500-block of Hickory Creek Line, to help health care workers check on the wellbeing of a resident.

Police say the residence was in a state of squalor.

The victim was taken to hospital and the OPP West Region forensic identification and crime units were called in to help with the investigation.

A 50-year-old woman is charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and is to appear in Sarnia court June 5.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
