Students Learn To Prepare For Emergencies (GALLERY)

It's one of the largest municipal/industrial emergency preparedness displays in Canada. Sarnia-Lambton's annual Emergency Preparedness Day was held Friday at the Clearwater Arena and surrounding parking lot. Community Awareness/Emergency Response (CAER) General Manager Dean Edwardson says municipal and industrial responders demonstrated their capabilities, equipment, and readiness to respond to a crisis. "When households are well-prepared and self-sufficient, it allows responders and municipal officials to focus on the most urgent issues during a crisis," he says. "Emergency Preparedness Day aims to provide those in attendance with the knowledge they need to be prepared at home for an emergency." Over 100 exhibitors attended this year's event, some from as far away as Calgary.

Hundreds of local school students toured the displays and watched demonstrations. --
