Steps For Life Walk

The annual Steps For Life walk takes place on Saturday, May 6 across Canada including at Sarnia's Canatara Park.

Carol Carlton is this year's spokesperson in Sarnia.

"My father John Carlton, who was with Local 95 of the Insulators Union, passed away from mesothelioma in 2015 because of working with asbestos. My best friend's spouse Dan Pelletier died on the job. He went to work one day and didn't come home," she says. "These tragedies do not need to happen. I'm inviting you to come out and walk with us on May 6. If you can't walk, donate to some one who can. Help make everyone aware of health and safety in the workplace."

The 5 km walk is the biggest fundraiser for Threads of Life, a national charity that supports families affected by workplace tragedy.

Registation at Canatara Park begins at 9:30am with the walk beginning an hour later.
