Lambton College Gala Celebrates School's 50th Year

Lambton College is holding a special President's Gala Saturday night to mark 50 years in the community.

Comedian Rick Mercer will be the keynote speaker, and there will be remarks on behalf of former Ontario Premier and Education Minister Bill Davis.

Davis helped open the current London Rd. campus in 1971. He was scheduled to speak, but isn't able to attend for health reasons.

College Foundation Director Marc Guilbeault says proceeds from the $250 tickets will go toward the Invision Tomorrow Capital Campaign.

"The campaign is geared toward a significant expansion at the college, including the NOVA Chemicals health and research facility, and a brand new athletics facility," says Guilbeault. "It is well underway with construction and we plan on welcoming students to the new facility in the fall of 2018."

Guilbeault expects the event to raise at least $50,000.

The sold out evening will also include gourmet dinner, live music, dancing, and a silent auction.
