Michigan Man Skips Customs And Crashes On Hwy. 402

A 20-year-old Michigan man is in the custody of the Canada Border Services Agency after allegedly failing to report to Canada Customs at the Blue Water Bridge early Thursday morning.

Middlesex OPP Constable Liz Melvin says, after running customs, the vehicle sped east on Hwy. 402 where it was involved in a collision near Kerwood Rd. just after 5am.

"It involved a vehicle in the fast lane and it was struck by a vehicle from behind," says Melvin. "The 20-year-old male from Michigan was driving the first vehicle. He was apprehended by police. Highway traffic act charges are pending."

The Michigan man was able to exit his vehicle and was not injured in the collision, although police report he was found to be behaving erratically.

Melvin says the driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
