Planning is underway to develop a lasting tribute to recognize the service of Sarnia's former city engineer and acting city manager.
Andre Morin died suddenly May 9 at the age of 41.
Director of Planning and Building Alan Shaw says staff have wanted to commemorate Morin's vibrant life, and have decided to place a bench to honour his memory at Centennial Park.
"We are taking donations from city staff to pay for the cost of the memorial," says Shaw.
Shaw says Morin played a key role in the parks redevelopment.
"That's part of the reason we picked Centennial Park, because it does pay tribute to his professionalism and the job that he did in regard to making sure that the job was completed," says Shaw.
He says the bench will have a plaque on it with a few words about Morin.
Shaw says a tulip tree, said to be a favourite of Morin's, will also be planted nearby.
Installation is expected this fall, with a dedication ceremony to follow at a yet to be determined date.
