Mackinac Weekend Kicks Off With Live Music

Mackinac weekend kicks off with the annual Bridge Bash Friday night in Point Edward.

Optimist Club spokesman Glenn MacKinnon says the first band plays at 8pm on the stage beneath the Blue Water Bridge.

"Life Signs kicks things off a 8pm, to be followed by Southern Fryde Inc. at 9:45pm and then Gypsy Flats at 11:30pm," says MacKinnon. "[Saturday] night at 8pm, Scott Manery and The Barnburners take to the stage, followed by Highway Jones and Chain Reaction."

Admission is $5 to the family and licensed areas.

"We've already fulfilled our $100,000 obligation toward the cost of the new splash pad under construction, so the money we raise now will pay for its annual maintenance, which will be between $5,000 and $7,000," says MacKinnon.
