Wide Load Driver Charged

A 61-year-old trucker from Tory Hill, Ontario has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with having an over-width load and failing to comply with the condition of a permit.

At around 1:30pm Thursday, an officer saw a wide-load vehicle interfering with traffic on Exmouth St., striking tree branches and traffic lights near Indian Rd.

When the vehicle was stopped, it was found the driver did not have a wide-load permit and the vehicle's dimensions were higher than the maximum allowances without a permit.

The trucking company also faces charges.

The vehicle was escorted back to the highway to await the issuing of a proper permit.

Each charge carries a fine of $390.
