Sarnia-Lambton's MP has issued a warning to residents about Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scams making the rounds again.
Marilyn Gladu says she's been notified about recent fraud attempts involving CRA impostors.
"I have had two people report to my office that they were scammed out of their private information by fake CRA phone calls," says Gladu. "The scammers often hit local numbers city to city in bulk, so it's likely many other local residents have or will get calls in the near future."
Gladu says it's up to individuals to protect their identity.
She says the revenue agency would not randomly call you at home and reminds residents to never give out vital personal information over the phone.
Gladu says threats of arrest are false and caller ID numbers can be manipulated to show an actual CRA number.
