OMB Hearing Set For Proposed Sifton Subdivision

An Ontario Municipal Board hearing is set for early next year on the proposed development of the Sifton lands at Modeland Rd. and Michigan Ave.

An eight-day hearing is set to begin Monday January 8, 2018 if a settlement is not reached before then.

At a previous hearing in June 2016 the OMB approved revised official plan and zoning bylaw amendments based on a settlement between the city and Sifton that reduced the density of the residential/commercial project.

The board still has to consider details of the plan of subdivision for the 26-acre site at the northwest corner of the intersection including storm water management.

Area resident Debbie Krukowski has been granted party status at the hearing. She has expressed concern that the capacity of the storm water system may not be able to handle the development.

The city, Lambton County and London-based Sifton previously agreed to eliminate high density uses including retirement homes and apartment dwellings and increased the number of single detached lots from 64 to 75.
