Alleged Drug Trafficker Arrested In Overdose Death

Sarnia police have made an arrest in connection with the drug overdose death of a man earlier this week.

On Wednesday August 9, members of the police service and Criminal Investigations Division investigated the sudden death of a middle-aged man after he had consumed illicit drugs.

Police say their investigation led them to the identity of the person who allegedly sold the illicit drugs to the victim and on Friday August 11, a search warrant was executed at a residence.

A suspect was taken into custody and charged with drug trafficking and possession.

Police say the identity of the accused is being withheld at this time as the investigation continues.

Sarnia police issued a public warning Wednesday night after three overdoses occurred within five hours. One person died and two others were taken to hospital. They believe the drug involved was cocaine but it had been laced with the deadly opiod fentanyl.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
