Sting Get Another Commitment

The Sarnia Sting sign another player as the preseason continues.

Sting general manager Nick Sinclair announced Saturday that they have signed defenceman Marko Jakovljevic to a standard OHL player agreement and education package. The Brantford, Ont. native is the first player to commit to Sarnia from the first OHL U-18 Selection, which took place in the spring.

Jakovljevic was with the Brantford 99ers Midget AAA program last season, with four goals for 18 points over 32 games played. He also had two goals and seven assists in 12 Alliance playoff contests.

“We are happy to welcome Marko and the Jakovljevic family to the Sting organization," says Sinclair in a statement. "He was an intriguing player to watch and continued to progress throughout his season with Brantford. After a stand out rookie camp in April, he followed it up with an impactful main camp and has earned this opportunity. We look forward to helping in his continuous development as a member of the Sting.”

The 6' 3", 192-pound Jakovljevic is expected to debut in a Sting uniform during Saturday night's pre-season game against the London Knights at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
