The Sting Beat Knights In OHL Preseason Action

The Sarnia Sting defeated the London Knights 6-3 in OHL preseason play in front of 2,100 fans at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Jordan Kyrou, Adam Ruzicka, Hugo Leufvenius, Drake Rymsha, Jordan Ernst and Connor Schlicting scored for the Sting.

Goalie Justin Fazio played the first two periods and stopped 20 of 22 shots. Blair Coffin played the third and turned aside 13 of 14 shots.

Sarnia vists Windsor Friday.

Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair announced Saturday that the club has received a commitment from 2017 Major Midget second round selection Marko Jakovjevic.

He's the first player to commit to the Sting from the inaugural U18 selection whick took place in April.

The Brantford native spent the 2016-17 season with the Brantford 99ers Midget AAA program, registering 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 32 games played.

The 6'03" 192 pound defenceman also scored 9 points (2 goals 7 assists) in 12 Alliance playoff games.

Jakovjevic made his Sting debut in Saturday night's home win over the Knights.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
