Lambton Shores Hiring Full-Time Fire Chief

Lambton Shores is joining other municipalities with more than one fire station that have hired full-time fire chiefs. Mayor Bill Weber says following a conversation with their five volunteer station chiefs at a meeting Wednesday, the consensus was to move forward with the controversial hiring. He says council set aside $100,000 in the budget but savings should offset the cost.

"The savings should come from the elimination of duplication of services," says Weber. "The new chief will help alleviate an increasing workload by taking on mostly administrative duties, things like coordinating training, and completing paperwork and reports in a cohesive manner."

Ads will soon be posted in hopes of having the position filled this fall.
