Lambton Looks At Convention Centre Possibilities

Lambton County Council has directed staff to look into the pros and cons of building a convention centre, following up on a suggestion from St. Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold.

Warden Bill Weber says three options of location, size and cost in the Sarnia/Point Edward area will be studied.

"The area is growing and we're a cross-border location," says Weber. "There a lots of good things happening locally and as we move forward we have to see if a convention centre would be utilized. We hope the study sparks some interest, maybe in the private sector. I imagine that staff will look at convention centres in other municipalities as well. It may not come to fruition but it's something we have to look at, all options for the betterment of the county."

There was no timeline indicated for completion of the study.
