Sting Win Season-Opener In Guelph

Anthony Salinitri, Drake Rymsha and Connor Schlicting scored and Adam Ruzicka added two assists as the visiting Sarnia Sting edged Guelph 4-3 in a shootout in the OHL season-opener for both teams.

Salinitri and Rymsha scored in the shootout.

Alexey Toropchenko, Liam Hawel and Ryan Merkley scored for Guelph.

Justin Fazio made 32 saves for Sarnia. Anthony Popovich turned aside 21 shots for Guelph.

Sarnia associate coach David Legwand says it was a huge win for the Sting. "The kids wanted to get off to a good start". He said "there's some things that could be corrected" heading into Saturday's home-opener against Kitchener.

The Sting went 1-for-5 with the man advantage. The Storm went 1-for-9 on the power play.

The pregame show starts at 6;45pm Saturday on 103.9 FM - 1070 AM CHOK.

In other games Flint beat the Rangers 5-3 and Windsor downed London 5-2.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
