Man Arrested After Officers Punched, Bitten

A 27-year-old Sarnia man is in police custody after allegedly punching and biting city officers.

Around 1:30am Saturday morning, police were called to a disturbance at a Pontiac Crt. residence where a man was fighting with friends and allegedly broke a window.

Upon arrival, police attempted to speak with the man but he refused.

When officers attempted to arrest the suspect for mischief, he allegedly became combative and struck one of the officers in the face and bit another on the forearm.

After a brief struggle, the suspect was finally handcuffed and taken into custody but continued to yell and scream.

The man, of no fixed address, was held for a bail hearing.

He's facing charges for mischief over $5000, one count of assault, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, and one count of resisting a peace officer.
