New Bank Among September Building Permits

A new bank being built on Lambton Mall property boosted Sarnia's construction activity last month.

City hall issued 43 building permits worth nearly $5-million in September.

A million dollar permit was issued for a new 8,000 sq ft Royal Bank at 1380 London Rd.

The North Christina St. and London Rd. branches will close and merge into the new facility when it opens early next year.

There were only four permits issued for single family homes in September for a nine-month total of 82.

The year-to-date pace is running about $9-million ahead of last year at $68.5-million, thanks in large part to the expansion underway at Lambton College.
