Emergency Responders To Converge On Valley

St. Clair Pkwy. between LaSalle Line and Beckwith St. in Corunna will be closed Monday from 9am until 12pm for the annual Sarnia Area Disaster Simulation.

Community Awareness and Emergency Response spokesman Dean Edwardson says Shell Canada will host this year's annual SADS exercise.

"The incident might involve a tank and how we respond to and address that, minimizing that, minimizing the impact on people, loss of equipment and that sort of thing, so it's pretty important," says Edwardson. "We'll have a number of our CVECO members including Shell, Imperial, Suncor and other participants who can provide equipment and resources. It will test our capabilities, our communication networks, how we work together, and make sure we're responding correctly."

The annual SADS exercise has been staged at different locations for over 20 years now.

Afterwards, organizers and first responders will meet to discuss how response could be improved upon.
