Gateway Gives

The new owner of the casino in Point Edward says it's their way of showing they plan to be a contributing part of our community.

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment spokesman Rob Mitchell says they've donated $5,000 to St. Joseph's Hospice.

It's part of their "25 Days of Giving" celebration marking 25 years in business.

"Gateway prides itself on the relationship it establishes in the community, with local service clubs, the Chamber of Commerce, and with municipal governments," says Mitchell. "We donate our facilities to service clubs and charity organizations. We discount our food offerings at our restaurants. We do a lot of community work where our casinos are located."

$5,000 will be given to a worthy charity in each of the communities in which Gateway operates with $125,000 distributed country-wide.

Mitchell says the local charity was selected by employees.
